Brian Brady – BSc (Hons) AMBCI
Brian served nine years exemplary service as a Royal Marines Commando followed by twenty-five years exemplary service as a police officer; in 2014, he retired as a police inspector.
Brian served in uniform and CID. On promotion to inspector and after completing a BSc (Hon’s) in Policing and Police Studies, he was seconded to the Home Office as a national police advisor. He was later seconded to the UK Border Agency to recruit, train and manage joint immigration crime teams. Brian was later appointed by his force to become their frontline champion, this meant working with the College of Policing to ensure the products and services that they delivered were of benefit to frontline officers and staff.
Brian is a qualified trainer and an independent recruitment and selection assessor. Throughout his career he has chaired or been part of interview panels that have ranged from the recruitment of special constables up to police inspector promotion boards. He was also a mentor for his force SHINE programme that advocates authentic leadership.
Whilst still serving as a police officer Brian was headhunted by a private company to help potential police sergeants and inspectors pass their practical promotion examinations.
Brian has combined his knowledge and experience to design and produce all Pass Police Tests products and services. With his expert guidance you will be able to shine in this increasingly competitive police recruitment process.
Geoff Spicer – BA.Ed (hons)
Geoff is a truly inspirational, positive, personable senior leader, highly regarded by his peers, colleagues and those he leads. Importantly he has a wealth of experience in selection, recruitment and promotion at all levels within the police service, from recruiting PCs right through to appointment of senior officers and chief executive police staff members. He has chaired many selection panels at every level within the police service. He knows exactly what panels are looking for and how to impress them.
He has also sat on recruitment and selection panels for partner agencies helping them find the best candidate right up to Chief Executives of Local Authority.
Geoff has a passion for helping others realise their potential. His enthusiasm is infectious and his relaxed, affable style quickly gives you the confidence to succeed. He has coached and mentored many, many colleagues, from police staff seeking their first appointment through to Chief Superintendents, to success in the promotion process allowing them to truly shine and standout during selection processes.
Geoff recently retired from the UK police service as a Chief Superintendent with over 31 years’ experience. At that time he was the Area Commander for one of the largest and highest performing command units in the South West of England commanding over 1000 staff with responsibility for a budget circa. £50 million.
Geoff has an impressive breadth of policing experience and has built a formidable reputation as an inspirational leader able to build strong teams and to perform and deliver in the most challenging environments.
He has a huge amount of experience of working with partners and communities; of urban and rural policing; of uniform and criminal investigation work; of operational and strategic policing. Whatever you are aiming for it is likely that Geoff can help.
Operationally he has successfully commanded multi-agency strategic responses to numerous critical incidents and crisis such as pandemic flu, terrorist threat and loss of critical business infrastructure and continuity caused by regional flooding and adverse weather.
As an accredited and experienced Gold and Silver Public Events and Public Order Commander he led operations in many large public events and public order situations, including World Cup Fanzones, St Pauls Carnival and Glastonbury Festival (the largest music festival in the world).
He has a high degree of expertise in the investigation of major and serious crime having led his Force’s Major Crime Investigation Unit, investigating the most serious and complex criminal investigations including homicide, gang-related crime, organised crime and shootings. He is immensely proud to have secured conviction in every homicide case he has led but more importantly of the service and support he has provided to the families of those victims.
Geoff is also an accredited UK National Police Trainer who holds industry standard qualifications in adult and further education as well as a 1st Class honours degree in education. His thesis centred on the interview of homicide suspects and became a key influence in current national high order police interview technique training.
He has also designed and delivered training programmes and events at regional and national level and also to law enforcement agencies worldwide.
As elected chair of his local Superintendents Association he was responsible for helping its senior operational leaders to lead and develop the police service to improve standards and to actively contribute to helping to shape policing policy and practice at the national and strategic levels.
Geoff has a cogent talent for managing organisational risk and reputation in the media. He also acts as a Senior Police Consultant to the BBC and others on a number of TV drama series, films and other projects.
